3.  Active Acknowledgment

  • Messages can be acknowledged by recipients by replying to messages or  through confirmation

The most common emergency event notification application is to warn students about crises on Colleges and University campuses. Nearly all of our Education customers have deployed some sort of means to communicate in emergency situations. The number of ways that event notification can be used has expanded rapidly and includes:  feedback loops for quality control, doctor and nurse notification in hospitals and any other environment were a built-in escalation process is required.

Early, first generation solutions deployed were thought to have the risks of uncertain technology and dependent solely on SMS. Many enterprises were surprised to learn during disasters that the cellular network often becomes jammed with user gridlock. Those that did deploy multiple technologies found another unwelcome surprise. The layering of multiple, disparate technologies with differing reporting systems yield unusable reports and documentation of how the technology is performing. What is needed is something more comprehensive.

By using multiple means of communication, BlazeCast from Benbria ensures everyone gets important messages like lock downs, evacuations, or other dangerous situations. Managers and administrators can immediately notify their students, patients, employees or the outside community through multiple channels including:

  • Land/mobile phones
  • SMS
  • PC desktops
  • Email
  • Paging to both overhead speakers and phone sets

Fortunately, the odds of an emergency occurring are low and Event Notification systems are rarely used. BlazeCast has much broader functionality beyond emergency notification. It has great value as an integrated component of an organization's IP network since it provides the convenience of sending broadcasts and messages daily.  This is a quick and cost-effective option unavailable on hosted solutions. For example, schools can leverage their phone and paging system and use BlazeCast for routine day-to-day notices, daily messaging, and as a convenient way to reach out to the community. Having over-taxed administrators spend all day notifying parents and employees of important issues becomes unnecessary with a fast and automated messaging system.

Capabilities include:

Integration with Paging - BlazeCast can function as a paging controller to provide much wider coverage than phone dialing or SMS messaging alone. Overhead paging to IP speakers works well in environments where you may not have comprehensive contact information for the people you want to reach, and is especially effective in urgent situations.

Message Confirmation and Find-Me - BlazeCast allows recipients to confirm receipt of the message through their touch-tone phone. If a recipient has more than one listed number, BlazeCast tries each number until a confirmation is received. Users are informed in real time of the state of their broadcast; they can see exactly which recipients were contacted, which speakers relayed the message, and when the notification occurred.

Broadcast a Message - to land/mobile phones, PC desktops, SMS, email and by paging to overhead speaker and IP phones all at once from a single point of activation. A One-click broadcast with pre-recorded messages to saved recipient lists is also possible.
